How do I ... ?
Communicate
The hospital operators are available to transfer internal and external phone
calls, provide overhead and numeric paging, and special announcements.
For a FIRE EMERGENCY dial "RACE" (7223)
and state the location of the fire.
For a MEDICAL EMERGENCY dial “0” and stay
on the line so that they can transfer you to the appropriate emergency exchange.
For a SPECIAL TEAM dial x2633 and state
your name and the location of the intervention. Use the military alphabet
to identify the unit as follows:

“A”- Alpha

“C”- Charley
|
 |
“D”- Delta
|
 |
“E”- Echo |
Code Procedures
Staff members are assigned on each shift to a specific emergency response
team. During any emergency, the hospital operator can be reached immediately
by dialing x2633. After 11 pm contact the Nursing Supervisor directly.
Code Blue- Acute Medical Emergency (life-threatening).
Code Red- Fire emergency. Policy and step-by-step instructions on each unit
in plastic pocket.
Special Team- Acute acting out behavior on specific unit and additional staff
is needed.
Charge personnel on unit makes decision regarding this intervention.
Charge personnel also calls the operator "all clear" when the situation is
under control.
